Worthwhile experience
One bright Saturday morning, in a cozy little kitchen, two best friends, Tim and Jake, decided to cook breakfast. Neither of them was a great cook, but they were determined to make the best pancakes ever.
Tim, the more cautious one, read the recipe aloud while Jake, the adventurous one, tried to follow along. “Okay, we need one cup of flour,” Tim said.
Jake grabbed a coffee mug and filled it with flour, spilling some on the counter. “Close enough,” he shrugged.
Next, Tim said, “We need one cup of milk.”
Jake poured the milk into the same coffee mug, but since it was already covered in flour, the milk turned into a thick paste. “Uh, I think it’s supposed to look like this,” Jake said uncertainly.
“Now, we need two eggs,” Tim continued.
Jake cracked an egg, but missed the bowl, splattering yolk everywhere. The second egg managed to hit the target, but some shell pieces fell in too. “Extra crunch,” Jake joked.
“Add a tablespoon of sugar,” Tim instructed.
Jake grabbed a heaping spoonful of salt instead, not noticing the mix-up. He dumped it into the bowl and stirred vigorously.
“Now mix it all together,” Tim said.
Jake mixed the ingredients with enthusiasm, causing flour and batter to fly everywhere. The kitchen was starting to look like a disaster zone. “Oops, my bad!” Jake laughed, wiping batter off his face.
Tim poured the lumpy, questionable batter into a hot pan. “They don’t look like the pancakes on the box,” he said, frowning at the odd-shaped blobs sizzling in the pan.
When the pancakes were done, they were strangely thick and rubbery. Jake tried to flip one, but it bounced back out of the pan and onto the floor. “Pancake frisbee!” he exclaimed, tossing another one to Tim.
After their pancake frisbee game, Tim and Jake decided to taste their creation. They each took a bite and immediately regretted it. The salty, crunchy, gooey mess was barely edible.
