1) Camel is a useful domestic animal which is tamed by the human beings for thousands of years.
2) It is called as the “Ship of the Desert” because of its fast running ability in the deserts.
3) Camel is a big animal with a small head, long neck and four long legs.
4) Camel has a high hump on its back where it stores water and food.
5) Camel produces a “Grunting” sound which is not very easy to listen for a human ear.
6) Camel is a Herbivorous animal i.e. it eats plants, vegetables, fruits and especially dry grasses and leaves.
7) Camels eat up to 10 to 20 kgs of fresh food and 8 to 10 kgs of dry food in a day.
8) The average life of a camel in a desert is around 40- 50 years.
9) The male camel is called as a “Bull Camel” and a female camel is called as a “Cow Camel”.
10) There are three subspecies of camel known to this world out of which “Bactrian Camel” has two humps on its back.
